Designed with the street-rider in mind, the Signet-X helmet offers a benchmark of comfort, noise control, steadiness, and ventilation. Relying on long-proven concepts, Arai has worked tirelessly to refine and adapt them for this use. The Signet series, situated at the long, slim end of the head shape spectrum, has always been a favored option. Now, with the Signet-X, Arai has packaged that shape with a wealth of features. Note: Fluorescent finishes are not supported by warranty and may fade with time and exposure.

 

Features

  • Features long oval shape, created by increasing the space of the EPS liner front to back and decreasing the space side-to-side, designed for riders with a narrow head and a more pronounced forehead
  • Variable Axis System (VAS) shield mechanism was developed to enhance the shape of the shell
  • VAS latch captures and securely holds the shield closed to help prevent unexpected opening
  • In addition to the de-mist function, the larger latch allows for intuitive and seamless shield operation
  • VAS shield system lowers the pivot point by an average of 24 mm, making the shell surface area in the critical temple area much smoother and better able to reduce impact energy getting into the helmet
  • Peripherally Belted - Super Complex Laminate Construction (PB-SCLC) shell design combines multiple materials and techniques that deliver both performance and affordability
  • Features QVF three-position intake and QVR exhaust ducts for excellent air intake and exhaust performance when ridingeven when the front shutter is closed on the top duct, a side vent still serves as an exhaust vent
  • FCS Cheek Pads The contoured shape - combined with multiple layers of varying foam densities supported by a foam spring - cradles the face while helping to block wind noise
  • Features water repellent, removable ES chin cover, enhancing the egg shape of the helmet while increasing exhaust from the mouth area
  • Odor resistant liner material resists build-up of bacteria and allows helmet to stay fresher for longer
  • Comes with VAS-Max Vision (MV) shield that accepts the new VAS-MV Pinlock lens
  • Includes ready-to-install Pinlock-120 lens

My 11 y.o. Arai Corsair X seemed to be growing on my head, clearly time to replace. Did my homework this time, per Arai’s website, to determine proper shape and size, even snapping a selfie of the top of my head (best wearing a skull cap) and comparing the image to Arai’s diagrams (Round, Intermediate, and Long Oval). My bean clearly matched the Long Oval shape, steering me to find a Large Signet-X, as opposed to simply buying another Corsair-X, which I now understand I had to oversize to make the “round” Corsair shape “fit” my bean. There were no local (around Chicago) dealers carrying a Large that I could try, so I went to the web, spotting a Large Fluorescent Yellow, open box, @ Motor Psycho. I confirmed with TR that I could return it if it didn’t provide proper fit, and completed the order. It got here with free shipping in 3 days! First hour of wearing in the house had me concerned it was too small. Contacted TR again, decided to give it more time. Wore it 3 more hours on next day in the house and I decided that it was exactly right around the largest part of my head but I may order a set of 25mm cheek pads (came with the std 20mm). If 25 is too tight, I can always peel off the 5mm layer and have them as a spare pair for when the originals break down. TR @ Motor Psycho I was very responsive to my questions…even on a weekend! Highly recommended, give these folks a try.
